Switch to the CTA/I-GO Card
Follow these simple steps to replace your current I-GO smart card with the Chicago Card Plus/I-GO Card:
- Log in to your online I-GO account, click on the “My Account” tab, and make sure your personal contact and credit card information is up-to-date and correct. This will help avoid any unnecessary delays in processing your request.
- Go to this registration form. Respond to the questions about the new Chicago Card Plus/I-GO joint card account.
- You will receive your new Chicago Card Plus/I-GO Card within three to five business days. Please note that there will be a one-time $15 charge on your monthly invoice to cover the cost of your new card. (You could more than offset this charge by referring a new member to I-GO. For every approved applicant who names you on their application form, we’ll add $20 in free driving to your I-GO account.)
- We will need to deactivate your current I-GO card when issuing you the new one. It normally takes 3-5 business days to receive the new card, so we recommend switching cards when you don’t need to use an I-GO car for the next few days. We will appreciate it if you mail the old card back to us at: I-GO Car Sharing, Attn: Smart Card Recycling, 2125 W. North Ave., Chicago, IL 60647. Reusing smart cards for new members strengthens our commitment to sustainable resources as an environmentally focused nonprofit organization.
- If you already have a Chicago Card Plus Card, you will now have two separate accounts with the CTA. The CTA portion of your new Chicago Card Plus/I-GO Card will be active immediately. If you want to transfer the balance on your Chicago Card Plus Card to your new Chicago Card Plus/I-GO Card, please email Member Services at memberservices@igocars.org. If you are currently purchasing a 30-day pass from the CTA, or if you have any questions about the CTA account on your Chicago Card Plus/I-GO Card, please contact CTA customer service online at www.chicago-card.com or by calling 1-888-YOUR-CTA (1-888-968-7282).
- If you are currently participating in a transit benefit program at work, contact your company’s transit benefit administrator and tell them that you want to transfer your transit benefit to your new Chicago Card Plus/I-GO Card.
