Wilco, Neko, I-GO
The 2nd I-GO Audio Emissions CD is now at the presses—be sure to pick up your free copy in I-GO cars beginning mid-July. This compilation of Chicago artists has an impressive line-up you are sure to enjoy.
The CD begins with legendary Studs Terkel interviewing the late Queen of Gospel and fellow Chicagoan Mahalia Jackson. Neko Case sings about driving and Wilco sings about singing. Award-winning rapper and I-GO member Kid Sister donated her track “Control.” The Golden Horse Ranch Square Dance Band, known for their tongue-in-cheek barn dances, rounds out the CD with “Hummer,” reminding us that you will never get to heaven in a Hummer.
Winners of the online contest to be on the CD include Kaotic Drumline, a south side percussion band that performs at WNBA half-time shows; Brighton, MA, who apparently couldn’t name their group Chicago because it was already taken; and local rock group Cobalt and the Hired Guns. Fellow winner Judson Claiborne gives us a song inspired by Finkel Steel while Justin Petertil and Seth Vandek experiment with the sounds of the el.
So go ahead, roll down the windows and crank up the stereo!
