Technology Information

In our continuing effort to improve our service to you, we’ll be adding new in-car electronic keypad devices to the gloveboxes of all I-GO vehicles over the next few months. It will be much easier for you to get help while you’re on the road and it will make it easier to use the fuel cards.

  1. The keypads will replace the current key dock boxes in the glove compartment. You will need to pull the ignition key and key fob (now black, rather than green) from the designated slot in the keypad device and return it when you complete your reservation.

  3. There are new fueling procedures. As you can see from the photos, the fuel card is docked in the keypad device. When it comes time to fill’er up, just shut the car off, open the glove box, and look at the keypad display. The display will have No and Yes icons at the bottom of the screen. Do not press either the yes or no button, simply remove the card from its slot. The screen will now display a Driver ID number that you will need to punch in when prompted on the gas pump. It only stays illuminated for 5 seconds, but if you need to see it a second time, insert and remove the card again. After you have used the Fuel Card, return it to the slot in the keypad device and resume your trip.

  5. You can now contact our Member Care Call Center directly from within the car. Push the little yellow button at the bottom of the keypad, and you will see two options:
    • Select 1, to be connected directly to a live Member Care operator.
    • Select 2, to make an emergency call to 911.

That’s right, no need to have a cell phone with you if you need to extend your reservation, report damage on the car, or are having any problems with the vehicle. The microphone is located on the driver side at the top of the windshield. If you are facing straight ahead, the microphone should pick you up just fine. For those of you who are curious, no, the microphone is not enabled unless you call us or 911.

Please use this method only if you need to contact Member Care immediately. Do not use this button for making future reservations, for example.

When will the keypads be installed?

We are rolling these out gradually. We are doing it this way so we don’t have to take the entire fleet offline for a week or so to get the keypads installed and the software uploaded. This does mean that during this time, some cars will have this technology while others will not. We hope this doesn’t cause too much confusion.

Feel free to give us feedback so we can address any issues that come up as quickly as possible. Check this page regularly to get tips, answers to frequently asked questions, and get updates on our progress.
