I-GO, Chicago’s only local, non-profit, car sharing company, is excited to announce the addition of its second Bridgeport location. A 2011 Red Nissan Sentra is now available in the parking lot at 3263 S. Halsted Street. This is in addition to a Blue Honda Fit located at the Halsted Stop on the Orange Line. And there are even more I-GO locations nearby in Pilsen, University Village, IIT and in 35 Chicago neighborhoods and 4 suburbs including Evanston and Oak Park.
To celebrate this Bridgeport expansion, join I-GO, 11th Ward Alderman James Balcer and Bridgeport business and community leaders and help us “launch” our new Bridgeport car on Thursday, April 28th at 11am at 3263 S. Halsted St. Then join us for food and refreshments at Nana Organic right across the street.
I-GO is offering new membership applicants a special discount: join now for only $25 and also receive $10 in free driving (a total of $60 in savings). Just enter the promotion code BRIDGEPORT25 in the “Promotions” section of the online application form. To apply for membership, go to www.igocars.org and click on JOIN TODAY (offer expires 12/31/11). I-GO cars can be reserved by members by the hour or day, anytime of day or night. Members can make a reservation from their computer, smart phone, or by calling I-GO’s 24-hour Member Services Department. Rates start as low as $6.75 an hour (some restrictions may apply).
Hourly rates include gas, insurance, a reserved parking space and all vehicle maintenance! I-GO’s 15,000+ members have access to over 220 low-emission vehicles including dozens of hybrids and even plug-in hybrids. Use I-GO for your grocery shopping and errand running, to get to appointments and sports practices, and a myriad of other uses.
“Renting a van is always a hassle and costs too much. With I-GO, you can rent right in the neighborhood for only as long as you need,” says Maureen Sullivan of South Loop Digital.
Members may choose either a standard I-GO smart card that accesses every car in I-GO’s fleet or the new Chicago Card Plus/I-GO Card, a joint initiative between I-GO and CTA that accesses I-GO cars, CTA trains and buses, and Pace buses—effectively expanding the range of public transit. Car sharing helps individuals and families reduce their automotive costs by thousands of dollars a year compared to the cost of owning a car (or a second car). I-GO is an affiliate of the Center For Neighborhood Technology, a 30 year old Chicago-based “think and do tank” that promotes urban sustainability.
